Conceptual Metaphor in the Selected Poems of Atticus'

Abstract

This thesis entitled "Conceptual Metaphor in the Selected Poems of Atticus". The aims of this thesis were to identify the types of conceptual metaphor and the meaning of the metaphorical expression found in the selected poems of Atticus'. The method used in this thesis was qualitative descriptive. The source of data were the poems which taken from the book Love Her Wild by Atticus. The data which were the sentences that contain metaphorical expression were analyzed using Conceptual Metaphor Theory by Lakoff and Johnson (2003). The study found that all types of conceptual metaphor (structural metaphor, orientational metaphor, and ontological metaphor) were found in the selected poems and the meaning of the metaphor could be understood through the metaphorical mapping.

Skripsi ini berjudul "Metafora Konseptual dalam Puisi Terpilih Atticus". Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis metafora konseptual dan makna dari ekspresi metaforis yang terdapat dalam puisi terpilih Atticus. Metode yang digunakan dalam skripsi ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data adalah puisi yang diambil dari buku berjudul Love, Her, Wild oleh Atticus. Data yang berupa kalimat yang mengandung ekspresi metaforis dianalisis dengan menggunakan Teori Metafora Konseptual oleh Lakoff dan Johnson (2003). Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa semua jenis metafora konseptual (metafora struktural, metafora orientasional, dan metafora ontologis) terdapat dalam puisi terpilih dan makna dari metafora dapat dipahami dengan pemetaan metaforis.
