dc.description.abstractHas done research on "Effect of Manganese Concentration Against the Mechanical Properties of Low Carbon Steel". SC 37 on carbon steel has a tensile strength ≥ 37 kgf/mm2, the length of ≥ 26%. To determine the effect of manganese (Mn) on the mechanical properties of low carbon steel was conducted experiments by varying the percentage of the element manganese (Mn). Raw materials with the composition of SC 37 is melted in electric induction furnace and then the percentage of the element manganese (Mn) varied as much as five variations are: V1 = 0.20%, v2 = 0.30%, 0.40% = v3, v4 = 0.50 %, and v5 = 0.60%, respectively casted in sand molds. Samples are produced through the variation percentage of the element manganese is tested to see its mechanical properties, the tests performed were: tensile testing, hardness, impact, and metalograpi. Data obtained from the test results are analyzed, conclusions concentrations of manganese causes the tensile strength and hardness whereas the greater the strain, the extension, the smaller the value impaknya or metal more brittle and the amount of perlite to settle to the grain boundaries more and more. dc.description.abstractTelah dilakukan penelitian tentang “Pengaruh Konsentrasi Mangan Terhadap Sifat Mekanik Baja Karbon Rendah”. Baja karbon SC 37 pada memiliki kuat tarik ≥ 37 kgf/mm2, pertambahan panjang ≥ 26 %. Untuk mengetahui pengaruh mangan (Mn) terhadap sifat mekanik baja karbon rendah ini dilakukan ekperimen dengan cara memvariasikan persentase unsur mangan (Mn) . Bahan baku dengan komposisi SC 37 dilebur pada tanur listrik induksi kemudian persentase unsur mangan (Mn) divariasikan sebanyak lima variasi yaitu: v1= 0,20 %, v2 = 0,30 %, v3 = 0,40 %, v4 = 0,50 %, dan v5 = 0,60 %, masing-masing dicor pada cetakan pasir. Sampel yang dihasilkan melalui variasi persentase unsur mangan (Mn) diuji untuk melihat sifat mekaniknya, pengujian yang dilakukan adalah: pengujian tarik, kekerasan, impak, dan metalograpi. Data yang diperoleh dari hasil pengujian dianalisa, kesimpulan konsentrasi mangan menyebabkan kuat tarik dan kekerasan semakin besar sedangkan regangan, perpanjangan, nilai impaknya semakin kecil atau logam semakin getas dan jumlah perlit yang mengendap pada batas butiran semakin banyak. Hasil pengujian sesuai standard Carbon Steel Casting JIS G 5101 ( 1975 ).en_US
