An Analysis of Main Character’s Gender Dysphoria in Lisa Williamson’s Novel the Art of being Normal

Abstract

This thesis entitled An Analysis of The Main Character’s Gender Dysphoria In Lisa Williamson’s “The Art Of Being Normal”. The aims of this thesis are (i) To describe the reflection of genderdysphoria in Lisa Williamson The Art Of Being Normal. (ii) To describe the social impact Gender Dysphoria in Lisa Williamson The Art Of Being Normal. The writer used sociology and psychology of literature as the concept of theory. The writer also used Hurlock’s self acceptance theory to help the writer in analyzing the problems. In completing the analysis, the writer use qualitative descriptive method. The writer collects the data from some sources included The Art Of Being Normal novels, journals, articles, and book which related to the gender dysphoria.

Skripsi ini berjudul An Analysis of The Main Character’s Gender Dysphoria In Lisa Williamson’s “The Art Of Being Normal”. Tujuan skripsi ini adalah (i) Untuk mendeskripsikan refleksi genderdysphoria dalam Lisa Williamson The Art Of Being Normal. (ii) Mendeskripsikan dampak sosial Gender Dysphoria pada Lisa Williamson The Art Of Being Normal. Penulis menggunakan sosiologi dan psikologi sastra sebagai konsep teori. Penulis juga menggunakan teori penerimaan diri Hurlock untuk membantu penulis dalam menganalisis permasalahannya. Untuk melengkapi proses analisis, penulis menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Penulis mengumpulkan data dari beberapa sumber seperti novel The Art Of Being Normal, beberapa jurnal, artikel, serta buku-buku yang berhubungan dengan disforia gender.
