    Kajian Pembakaran Serentak Batubara dengan Sekam Padi Menggunakan Sistem Fluidisasi

    Abstract
    The research constitutes the form of an investigation to achieve the particular co-combustion characteristics of coal and rice husk by a fluidized bed combustor. An investigation was carried out using low rank coal of lignit type with particle size in the range of 1-2mm and rice husk by the size of 1-3mm. The fuel for combustion to be tested in the trial is provided at the combination of 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40% containing rice husk (dry basis). Experiments were conducted at fixed rates of 13.50 kg/hr. To obtain the combustion temperatures and gaseous pollutant emission a test was carried out by varying the excess air and the blending ratio of rice husk. The result of this study shows that the combustion temperatures and gaseous pollutant emissions such as CO, CO2, NO2, and SO2 were reduced substantially with the increase of the blending ratio of rice husk in coal. At blending of 40% rice husk in the coal fuel, the combustion temperature could reach up to 7850C at 40% excess air and produce the lowest temperature compared to the other. At 10% excess air, combustion of fuel with the content of rice husk of 10-40% results of CO emission reduced of 26%, CO2 of 35%, SO2 of 36%, and NO2 of 6%. Thus, a mixture of coal with rice husk can be used as fuel by burning simultaneously to the needs of environmentally friendly energy.
     
    Penelitian ini merupakan suatu investigasi untuk mendapatkan karakteristik pembakaran campuran batubara dan sekam padi dengan menggunakan ruang bakar fluidized bed. Investigasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan batubara peringkat rendah (low rank coal) jenis lignit dengan ukuran partikel 1-2 mm dan sekam padi ukuran 1- 3 mm. Bahan bakar yang diuji disiapkan dalam empat kombinasi, yaitu 10%, 20%, 30%, dan 40% kandungan sekam padi (basis berat). Dalam eksperimen ini, laju bahan bakar diatur konstan sebesar 13,50 kg/jam. Pengukuran suhu pembakaran dan emisi gas asap dilakukan dengan memvariasikan kelebihan udara terhadap kandungan sekam padi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan suhu pembakaran dan emisi gas asap seperti CO, CO2, NO2, dan SO2 berkurang dengan kenaikan kandungan sekam padi dalam batubara. Pada pembakaran campuran batubara dengan 40% sekam padi, memperlihatkan suhu pembakaran sebesar 7850C pada kelebihan udara 40% dan menghasilkan suhu terendah dibandingkan terhadap lainnya. Pada kelebihan udara 10%, jika kandungan sekam padi di naikkan dari 10-40% maka emisi CO berkurang sebesar 26% , emisi CO2 berkurang sebesar 35%, emisi SO2 berkurang sebesar 36%, dan emisi NO2 berkurang sebesar 6%. Dengan demikian campuran batubara dengan sekam padi dapat digunakan sebagai bahan bakar dengan pembakaran serentak untuk kebutuhan energi yang ramah lingkungan.
