    Studi Penyerapan Logam Besi (Fe) dan Sulfat dari Limbah Industri Pertambangan dengan Adsorben Kulit Ubi Kayu dan Spent Mushroom Substrat (SMS)

    Abstract
    One of the effects of mining activity is the forming of the process of acid mine drainage. The characteristics of acid mine drainage produced by mining industry at Batangtoru, South Tapanuli, is high in iron metal (Fe) concentration at 4086.86 mg/L and in sulfate concentration at 5131.25 mg/L. The aim of the research was to know the efficiency of alternative processing of acid mine drainage using the medium of active carbon made of inner peel of cassava and Spent Mushroom Substrate (SMS) from waste of mushroom industrial processing. The results demonstrated that the adsorption of iron metal (Fe) and sulfate using activated carbon were 84.50% and 63.24%, respectively and the adsorption of iron metal (Fe) and sulfate using Spent Mushroom Substrate (SMS) were 99.99% and 72.41%, respectively.
     
    Salah satu dampak yang dihasilkan dari kegiatan penambangan adalah terbentuknya proses air asam tambang. Karaktersitik air asam tambang yang dihasilkan dari industri pertambangan di daerah Batangtoru, Tapanuli Selatan adalah tingginya konsentrasi logam besi (Fe) 4086,86 mg/L dan konsentrasi Sulfat 5131,25 mg/L. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efisiensi pengolahan alternatif air asam tambang dengan menggunakan media karbon aktif berbahan dasar kulit bagian dalam ubi kayu dan material organik Spent Mushroom Substrat (SMS) dari sisa pengolahan industri pengembangbiakan jamur. Hasil dari masing – masing media ini menghasilkan adsorpsi logam besi (Fe) sebesar 84,50% dan penyisihan Sulfat sebesar 63,24 % dengan media karbon aktif dan efisiensi penyisihan logam besi (Fe) sebesar 99,99% dan 72,41% untuk penyisihan Sulfat dengan media SMS.
