    Analisis Kekuatan Keramik Berbahan Clay, Abu Gunung Sinabung dan Air Laut Ditinjau dari Ikatan Strukturnya

    Abstract
    Ceramics made of clay, Sinabung volcanic ash and sea water by die pressing method. Clay and sinabung volcanic ash sifted with 200 mesh sieve. Ceramics are printed with a comparison of variations of clay mixture, sinabung mountain ash and sea water 10:0:0 gr ; 10:9:1 gr ; 10:8:2 gr ; 10:7:3 gr ; 10:6:4 gr ; 10:5:5 gr, etc. Ceramics were sintering with sintering temperature 10000C in holding time 3 hours. Ceramics were characterized by determining the physic properties (shrinkage, porosity and density) of mechanical properties (strength press), surface morphology (SEM) and pore size XRD. The characterization results showed that the optimum value occurs in a mixture of clay, Sinabung mountain ash and seawater at a mixed variation of 10:5:5 gr with a shrinkage value = 31.2%; porosity = 27.16%; density = 2.09×103 kg/m3 %; strength press = 86.66 Mpa. Surface morphology (SEM) indicates that optimum variations agglomerated and significant unification between grains and structures formed was hexagonal with a crystal size of 45.44 nm.
     
    Telah dibuat keramik berbahan clay, abu gunung Sinabung dan air laut dengan metode die pressing. Clay dan abu gunung Sinabung diayak dengan ayakan 200 mesh. Keramik dicetak dengan dengan perbandingan variasi campuran clay, abu gunung Sinabung dan air laut 10:0:0 gr ; 10:9:1 gr ; 10:8:2 gr ; 10:7:3 gr ; 10:6:4 gr ; 10:5:5 gr, dst. Keramik disintering dengan suhu sintering 10000C dengan holding time 3 jam. Keramik dikarakterisasi dengan menentukan sifat fisis (penyusutan, porositas dan densitas) sifat mekanis (kuat tekan), morfologi permukaan dan ukuran pori (SEM) dan XRD. Hasil karakterisasi menunjukkan bahwa nilai optimum terjadi pada campuran clay, abu gunung Sinabung dan air laut pada variasi campuran 10:5:5 gr dengan nilai penyusutan = 31,2%; porositas = 27,16%; densitas = 2,09×103 kg/m3 %; kuat tekan = 86,66 Mpa. Morfologi permukaan (SEM) menunjukkan bahwa variasi optimum mengalami aglomerasi dan terjadi penyatuan antar butir secara signifikan dan struktur yang terbentuk adalah hexagonal dengan ukuran kristal 45,44 nm.
