Background: The exposure of irritant substances such as benzene, toluene, xylene and ethylbenzene in the air is estimated that can cause of disruption towards the transportation time of nasal mucociliary when it’s inhaled. This substance is mostly found in public fueling stations (gas stations).
Objective: to find out the correlation of the exposure of irritant substance towards the transportation time of nasal mucociliary trammel at gas station officer in medan city.
Method: The type of research which is conducted was analytical research with cross sectional study design.
Results: There are 42 samples of subjects according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria where 31 subjects went through a deceleration of nasal mucociliary transport (NMT) time. The location of exposure has a significant correlation on the nasal NMT disorder that is as many as 31 people (100%) on direct exposure.
Conclusion: the nasal mucociliary transport time slows down on the gas station officers who are exposed to direct irritant exposure. Latar belakang: Paparan zat iritan seperti benzene, toluene, xylene dan etilbenzena di udara diperkirakan dapat mengakibatkan terganggunya transportasi mukosiliar hidung ketika terhirup. Zat ini banyak terdapat di stasiun pengisian bahan bakar umum (SPBU).
Tujuan penelitian: untuk mengetahui hubungan paparan zat iritan terhadap gangguan transportasi mukosiliar hidung pada petugas SPBU di kota medan.
Metode: Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian analitik dengan design study potong lintang (crossectional study).
Hasil: Sampel sebanyak 42 subyek berdasarkan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi dimana 31 subyek mengalami perlambatan waktu transportasi mukosiliar (TMS) hidung. Lokasi paparan memiliki hubungan yang signifikan pada gangguan TMS hidung yaitu sebanyak 31 orang (100%) pada paparan langsung.
Kesimpulan: waktu transportasi mukosiliar hidung melambat pada petugas SPBU yang kena paparan langsung zat iritan.
