    Pemanfaatan Tandan Kosong Dan Cangkang Kelapa Sawit Sebagai Briket Arang

    Abstract
    Solid waste from Oil Palm Factory like oil palm empty fruit bunches and oil palm shell if do not treatment will pollute environment. This research try to learn use of oil palm empty fruit bunches and oil palm shell for charcoal briquette. Charcoal briquette is one of alternative fuels to substitute oil fuels and charcoal from mangrove wood. The research done in laboratory scale by using carbonization process at 500 oC. The carbonization is doing in 1 hour. Drying process of the briquette at 100 oC is doing 1 hour. The comparison of Composition of oil palm shell and oil palm empty fruit bunches is 1:10, 1:20, 1:30 with adhesive concentration 0%,10%,20% and 30%. The briquette is cylinder-shape 5 cm in height and 10 cm in diameter. The result shows that the best briquette is obtained form the comparison of materials concentration 1 : 20 and the adhesive concentration of 20%, with the the value of test parameter as follows : a. Heating Value : 5303.07 kal / gr b. Fixed Carbon : 61.41% c. Moisture Content : 7.81% d. Ash Content : 9.26 % e. COx Content : 27.64 mg/l f. Mechanic test : 6.02 kg/in2 g. Pm10 test : 0.0200 mg/m3
     
    Limbah padat pabrik kelapa sawit seperti tandan kosong dan cangkang kelapa sawit jika tidak diolah dapat mencemari lingkungan. Penelitian ini mencoba untuk melakukan kajian pemanfaatan tandan kosong dan cangkang kelapa sawit sebagai briket arang. Briket arang merupakan salah satu bahan bakar alternatif pengganti bahan bakar minyak (BBM) dan arang kayu bakau. Penelitian dilakukan dalam skala laboratorium dengan menggunakan proses karbonisasi pada suhu 500oC. Waktu karbonisasi selama 1 jam. Proses pengeringan briket pada suhu 100oC selama 1 jam. Perbandingan komposisi cangkang kelapa sawit dan tandan kosong kelapa sawit adalah 1:10, 1:20, 1:30 dengan konsentrasi perekat 0%,10%,20% dan 30%. Briket berbentuk silinder dengan tinggi 5 cm dan diameter 10 cm Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh briket terbaik adalah briket dengan perbandingan konsentrasi bahan 1 : 20 dan konsentrasi perekat 20%, dengan nilai parameter uji sebagai berikut : a. Nilai Bakar : 5303.07 kal/gr b. Total Karbon : 61.41% c. Kadar air : 7.81% d. Kadar abu : 9.26 % e. Kadar COx : 27.64 mg/l f. Uji Mekanik : 6.02 kg/in2. g. Uji Pm10 : 0.0200 mg/m3
