dc.description.abstractBackground: Nasal polyps are medical and social problems because it can affect the quality of life for people either education, occupation, daily activities and discomfort. The prevalence of patients with nasal polyps have not known for sure because only a few reports of the results of epidemiological studies. In Indonesia, Dr. Sutomo Surabaya Hospital reported patients with nasal polyps were 4.63% of all visitors that came to the ENT clinic. The ratio of male and female 2-4:1. In H. Adam Malik Medan general hospital during March 2004 to February 2005 cases of nasal polyps were found in 26 persons consist of 17 males (65%) and 9 women ( Objective: To obtain data about 35%). In September 2009 to Oktober 2010, nasal polyps were found in 21 persons consist of 15 male (71,4%) and 6 female (28.6%). the incidence of nasal polyps patients in H. Adam Malik Medan general hospital Method: This study is using case series design with in 2010 retrospective study methode by looking at medical records of all patients with nasal polyps who came to the H. Adam Malik Medan general hospital from January 2010 until December 2010 Result: In this research, we found patients with nasal polyps in January 2010 to December 2010 are 43 patients and . most commonly found in men (51.2%), age group 35-44 years and 45-54 years respectively (20.0%), the main complaint of nasal congestion (100%), and additional complaints of headache and sneezing respectively (37.2%), patients in stage 2 and 3 respectively (41.9%), histological type of loose stroma infiltrated lymphocytes and PMN diffuse (18.6% ), infection of the paranasal sinuses are multisinusitis unilateral (16.3%), nasal cavity involved is the right side (39.5%), and the management of nasal polyps with operative (53.5%).en_US
