dc.description.abstractThe title of this thesis is An Analysis of Non-literal Meaning Found in Novel Diary of Wimpy Kid that analyze about nonliteral meaning. The author is Jeff Kinney, a n online game developer and designer, and a New York Times bestselling author. In 2004 Novel Diary of Wimpy Kid was published online and became hit instant that reached 20 milion readers who wanted the novel to be printed. In 2007 this novel was printed. The writer chosed this novel as her object of the study. The method used in this thesis wa qualitative method. The technique was documentary technique. It was taken because the data belong to the author’s written. To analyze the data the writer used Miles Huberman analysis which consist of three steps; data reduction, data display and conclusiuon. Based on Leech theory about nonliteral meaning, the writer found eight types in the novel, they are: Metaphora, Personification, Hyperbol, Simile, Litotes, Irony, Metonomy and Oxymoron. The dominant type is metaphor which reach 65.67%, meanwhile Personification 4.47%, Hyperbola 14.92%, Simile 5.97%, Litotes 5.97%, Irony 1.49%, Metonymy 1.49% dan Oxymoron 1.49%.en_US
