Ekspresi Interleukin-5 (IL-5) pada Polip Hidung

Abstract

Introduction: The recurrence rate of patients with nasal polyps is still high. Management of nasal polyps is commonly based on its histopathologic type. Among all the cytokines, Interleukin-5 (IL-5) has the best relationship with eosinophil cationic protein (ECP). This shows the closed relationship between IL-5 with the severity of inflammation eosinophils. Aim: To describe the expression of IL-5 in nasal polyps. Methods: Descriptive study on 33 cases of patients with nasal polyps since July 2013- January 2015 in RSUP.H. Adam Malik. Histopathologic features based on classification of Hellquist 1996. Staging Nasal Polyps based on Lund and Mackay 1995. Histopathology examined with hematoxylin eosin staining techniques and expression of IL-5 examined with immunohistochemical staining techniques Results: From the 33 cases of nasal polyps, males (66.7%), mostly ≥40 years old (63.6%), the highest stage is stage 2 (54.6%), the most histopathologic type was type I (69.7%), mostly overexpression of IL-5 (66.7%) and the overexpression of IL-5 in the type I (77,3%). Conclusion: IL-5 expression in nasal polyps was overexpression and more overexpression on allergic type.

Pendahuluan: Angka kekambuhan pasien dengan polip hidung masih tinggi. Pengobatan polip hidung berhubungan dengan gambaran histopatologinya. Diantara semua sitokin, Interleukin-5 (IL-5) mempunyai hubungan yang paling baik dengan eosinophil cationic protein (ECP). Hal ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang erat antara IL-5 dengan beratnya peradangan oleh eosinofil. Tujuan : Mengetahui ekspresi IL-5 pada polip hidung. Metode: Penelitian deskriptif terhadap 33 kasus penderita polip hidung dilakukan sejak Juli 2013- Januari 2015 di RSUP.H. Adam Malik Medan. Gambaran histopatologi berdasarkan klasifikasi Hellquist, 1996. Penentuan stadium berdasarkan Lund and Mackay 1995. Histopatologi polip hidung diperiksa dengan teknik pewarnaan hematoksilin eosin dan ekspresi IL-5 diperiksa dengan teknik pewarnaan imunohistokimia Hasil: Dari 33 kasus polip hidung, dijumpai pada laki-laki (66,7%), usia terbanyak pada usia ≥40 tahun (63,6%), stadium terbanyak adalah stadium 2 (54,6%), histopatologi terbanyak adalah tipe I (69,7%), ekspresi IL-5 terbanyak adalah overekspresi sebanyak 66,7% dan dijumpai overekspresi pada tipe I sebanyak 77,3%. Kesimpulan: Ekspresi IL-5 pada polip hidung dijumpai overekspresi dan lebih banyak overekspresi pada tipe alergi
