    Isolasi dan Penentuan Struktur Senyawa Steroid dari Akar Tumbuhan Cendana (Santalum album Linn)

    Abstract
    Santalum album Linn. is one of the species belonging to the Santalaceae family. It is used as a traditional medicine for diabetes mellitus and is known to contain sesquiterpene compounds. This study was aimed to isolate steroidal compound from the root of S. album and to determine its chemical structure. Isolation was accomplished by maceration and was followed by fractionation using column chromatography with silica gel as the stationary phase. The isolation work resulted in a pure isolate in the form of white needle crystals, m.p. 135-137°C (uncorrected). The pure isolate was identified by spectral analyses with infrared, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, DEPT and 2D-NMR (COSY, HMQC and HMBC) spectroscopy. The result indicated that the compound was found to be steroid and based on the comparison of its spectrum with those of the database of the compound was concluded to be clionasterol.
     
    Santalum album Linn. merupakan salah satu spesies dari suku Santalaceae yang digunakan sebagai obat tradisional seperti diabetes melitus dan diketahui mengandung senyawa-senyawa seskuiterpena. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengisolasi dan menentukan struktur molekul steroid dari akar S. album. Isolasi dilakukan dengan cara maserasi diikuti oleh fraksinasi dengan kromatografi kolom dengan fase diam silika gel. Dari hasil isolasi diperoleh isolat murni berupa kristal putih berbentuk jarum dengan titik leleh 135-137°C (tidak terkoreksi). Isolat murni diidentifikasi dengan menganalisis spektrum inframerah, NMR-1H, NMR-13C, DEPT, dan NMR-2D (COSY, HMQC dan HMBC). Dari hasil analisa dinyatakan bahwa senyawa tersebut adalah senyawa golongan steroid dan berdasarkan hasil konfirmasi dengan membandingkan pada database senyawa tersebut adalah clionasterol.
