Analisa Kadar Air, Kotoran dan Asam Lemak Bebas pada Crude Palm Oil (CPO) di Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit Medan

Abstract

Analysis of water content, dirt and free fatty acids from palm oil produced by the Medan Oil Palm Research Center has been carried out. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the water content, dirt, and free fatty acid had met the quality standards of palm oil set by the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Analysis of water content and dirt was carried out by gravimetric method while analysis of free fatty acid content was carried out by alkalimetric titration. The results obtained at the water content 0.26%, the dirt 0.10% and the free fatty acid (FFA) 5.55%. Thus the water content and dirt in the CPO have met the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) <0,5%, while the free fatty acid content does not meet the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) <5% at the Medan Oil Palm Research Center.

Analisa kadar air, kotoran dan asam lemak bebas dari minyak sawit yang di produksi oleh Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit Medan sudah dilakukan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kadar air, kotoran, dan asam lemak bebas telah memenuhi standar mutu minyak sawit yang ditetapkan oleh Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI). Analisis kadar air dan kotoran dilakukan dengan metode gravimetri sedangkan analisis asam lemak bebas dilakukan dengan cara titrasi alkalimetri. Hasil yang diperoleh pada kadar air 0,26%, kotoran 0,10% dan asam lemak bebas (ALB) 5,55%. Dengan demikian kadar air dan kotoran pada CPO tersebut telah memenuhi Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) <0,5%, sedangkan untuk kadar asam lemak bebas tidak memenuhi Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) <5% di Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit Medan.
