    Abstract
    Penelitian ini mencoba menganalisis “Figurative Language in Joel Osteen's Your Words Become Your Reality” dengan menggunakan bahasa kiasan dalam pidato Joel Osteen. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori Reask (1996:27) yang terdiri dari Simile, Metaphor, Personification, Irony, Hyperbole, Litotes, Metonymy, dan Synecdoche. Dalam menganalisis makna, teori yang digunakan adalah Keraf (2007:29) yang terdiri dari denotatif dan konotatif. Metode yang digunakan untuk menganalisis masalah dalam skripsi ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif karena peneliti menjelaskan tentang kalimat ucapan yang dikategorikan ke dalam bahasa kiasan. Penulis menemukan 30 data dalam pidato Joel Osteen “Your Words Become Your Reality”. Hasil yang ditemukan data terdapat 9 bentuk simile, 5 bentuk metafora, 4 bentuk personifikasi, 2 bentuk ironi, 3 bentuk hiperbola, 3 bentuk litotes, 2 bentuk metonimi, dan 2 bentuk sinekdoke. Kemudian, hasil analisis makna ditemukan 9 makna denotatif dan 21 makna konotatif. Penulis menemukan bahwa simile adalah yang paling sering digunakan oleh pembicara dalam pidatonya. Penulis menemukan bahwa fungsi kiasan dalam pidato ini digunakan untuk membuat imajinasi pendengar dan menarik perhatian pendengar
     
    This study attempts to analyse “Figurative Language in Joel Osteen's Your Words Become Your Reality” by using of figurative language in Joel Osteen's speech. The theory used is Reask (1996:27) which consists of Simile, Metaphor, Personification, Irony, Hyperbole, Litotes, Metonymy, and Synecdoche. In analyzing meaning, the theory used is Keraf (2007:29) which consists of denotative and connotative. The method used to analyze the problem in this thesis is a qualitative approach because the researcher explains about the utterances categorized into figurative language. The author found out 30 data in Joel Osteen's speech "Your Words Become Your Reality". The results were found that data, there are 9 simile forms, 5 metaphor forms, 4 personification forms, 2 ironi forms, 3 hyperbole forms, 3 litotes forms, 2 metonymy forms, and 2 synecdoche forms. Then, the results of the meaning analysis found 9 denotative meanings and 21 connotative meanings. The writer found that simile is the most frequently used by the speaker in his speech. The writer found that the figurative function in this speech is used to make the listener's imagination and attract the listener's attention.
