    Abstract
The study on potency of biosurfactant producing bacteria from Tanjung Balai and Sibolga sea, Nort Sumatera Utara in degrading gliphosate, was done in the Microbiology Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences University of Sumatera Utara from February until July 2011. Two isolates used were TJB 01 and SBG 05, that were cultured on media that contain 2% Roundup for six days. The higher growth was shown by TJB 01 on day 6 (6.3 x 1012 CFU/ml). The higher production of biosurfactant concentration was shown by TJB 01 on day 2 (109.421 ppm). Ability of TJB 01 isolate in degrading glyphosate was also the better than to SBG 05 with remaining of glyphosate concentration 2,826.171 ppm with percent decrease up to 16.8%.
