dc.description.abstractSkripsi ini berjudul Analysis of Harassment and Violence Against Women Portrayed in Tiffany D. Jackson’s Novel Grown. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tipe-tipe pelecehan dan kekerasan terhadap wanita yang terdapat dalam novel Grown karya Tiffany D. Jackson. Enchanted sang tokoh utama adalah seorang gadis kulit hitam yang bercita-cita menjadi seorang penyanyi. Namun, dalam perjalanannya mencapai mimpinya, ia malah diperlakukan tidak pantas oleh Korey Fields yang menjadi mentornya. Enchanted terus-menerus mendapatkan pelecehan dan kekerasan dari sang mega bintang. Metode yang digunakan dalam menganalisis novel ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif oleh Miles dan Huberman. Data penelitian ini berupa kata, frasa, dan kalimat yang memuat unsur jenis-jenis pelecehan dan kekerasan terhadap wanita yang terdapat pada novel ini. Untuk menyelesaikan masalah penelitian, digunakan teori sosiologi sastra dan teori feminisme. Hasil penelitian menggambarkan bahwa wanita kerap kali dipandang sebagai liyan dan diperlakukan seenaknya seperti objek, hal ini mendorong sang tokoh utama untuk melakukan perlawanan dan menunjukkan bahwa dia ada sebagai manusia yang utuhen_US
dc.description.abstractThis thesis is entitled Analysis of Harassment and Violence Against Women Portrayed in Tiffany D. Jackson's Novel Grown. This study aims to analyse the types of harassment and violence against women in the novel. Enchanted, the protagonist in this novel is a black girl who dreams of becoming a singer. However, on her way to achieving her dream, she is instead treated inappropriately by Korey Fields who becomes her mentor in singing. Enchanted is constantly getting harassment and violence from the megastar. The method used in analysing this novel is a descriptive qualitative method by Miles and Huberman. The data of this research are in the form of words, phrases, and sentences that contain elements of the types of harassment and violence against women found in this novel. To solve the research problem, the theory of sociology of literature and the theory of feminism is used. The results of the study represent women are often seen as “the other” and treated as arbitrarily like objects, this encourages the main character to fight and show that she exists as a whole human being.en_US
