dc.description.abstractThis research focuses on the analysis of translation techniques of the novel The Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway into Orang Tua dan Laut. The objectives of this research are to find out the translation techniques used in the translated novel The Old Man and The Sea and the frequency of the translation techniques use in the translated novel The Old Man and The Sea. The objectives of this research are to find out the translation technique used by the translator in the translated novel of The Old Man and The Sea and to know the frequency of the translation techniques used in the translator novel of The Old Man and The Sea. This research is classified as descriptive qualitative and quantitative. That is found out that 16 different translation techniques. They are namely 229 times (44.80%) of literal, 60 times (10.03%) of amplification, 84 times (12.77%) of modulation, 40 times (5.83%) of reduction, 81 times (12.37%) of calque, 43 times (6.53%) of particularization, 29 times (4.41%) of established equivalent, 28 times (4.26%) of linguistic amplification, 28 times (4.26%) of linguistic compression, 2 times (0.30%) of generalization, 11 times (1.67%) of borrowing, 5 times (0.76%) of adaptation, 9 times (1.37%) of transposition, 2 times (0.30%) of variation, 1 time (0.15%) of description, and 1 time (0.15%) of discursive creation. The total number of translation techniques applied in this research was 658 data, with 588 monologues translated. Because several data must be translated using several techniques, the number of translation techniques surpassed the data. From the analysis, it can be concluded that in this research, the literal translation is the most technique used.en_US
dc.description.abstractPenelitian ini berfokus pada analisis teknik penerjemahan novel The Old Man and The Sea karya Ernest Hemingway yaitu Orang Tua dan Laut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui frekuensi teknik penerjemahan untuk novel TOMATS dan terjemahan novelnya OTDL. Survei ini dikategorikan sebagai deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Informasi dikumpulkan melalui membaca novel, membandingkannya, mengenali, mengklasifikasikan, menghitung, dan menarik kesimpulan.16 metode terjemahan yang berbeda ditemukan dalam peneilitan ini. Yaitu, literal 229 kali (44,80%), amplfikasi 60 kali (10,03%), modulasi 84 kali (12,77%), reduksi 40 kali (5,83%), kalke 81 kali (12,37%), partikularisasi 43 kali (6,53%), padanan lazim 29 kali (4,41%), amplifikasi linguistic 28 kali (4,26%), compressi linguistic 28 kali (4,26%), generalisasi 2 kali (0,30%), peminjaman 11 kali (1,67%), adaptasi 5 kali (0,76%), transposisi 9 kali (1,37%), 2 kali (0,30%) variasi, deskripsi 1 kali (0,15%), kreasi diskursif 1 kali (0,15%). Jumlah metode penerjemahan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 658, dan monolog 588 diterjemahkan. Beberapa data perlu dikonversi menggunakan beberapa metode, sehingga jumlah metode konversi melebihi data. Dari analisis ini, peneliti dapat menyimpulkan bahwa terjemahan literal adalah metode yang paling banyak digunakan dalam penelitian ini.en_US
