An Interaction Between Reality and Relation in Three News Articles Related to Law Revision of Corruption Eradication Comission

Abstract

This study aims at analyzing the interaction between reality and relation in news article related to law revision of Corruption Eradication Commission/Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK). The reality is realized in experiential function that consists transitivity system while the relation is revealed by logical function that consists of the status and its logico-semantic relation. The source of data of this study is three online news articles such as Antara News, The Jakarta Post, and Tempo.co. The data of this study is the clauses which are presented in the content of the each news article. This study uses descriptive qualitative method by applying documentation technique and are analyzed by interactive mode. After the data analyzed, it is found that the types of reality and relation in each news article are different. The reality in Antara News having no occurence of behavioral process where verbal process becomes its dominance. In The Jakarta Post, there is not appearance of verbal process and the dominance is found in material process. In Tempo.co, the dissapearance is found in existential process where the dominance is realized in mental process. In relation to the logical function, the equal and unequal status are realized in all news articles but its configurations in each news article are different. It is found that from the ten configurations of logico semantic relation, Antara News only has eight of them. In the Jakarta Post, it is found that the total of logical function configuration are only found six as well as in Tempo.co. The realization of interaction between reality and relation realized in Antara News dominantly shows verbal process in their locution clause, The Jakarta Post mostly presents the process of material in the form of enhancement. While, Tempo.co has two dominances, they are material process in enhancement and verbal process in locution. The findings lead this research that the news articles present their news differently based on their needs and goals. Antara News, as the news article which is funded by Government is definetely pro to the government policy. The Jakarta Post is seen as the news article which positions themselves as the citizen of Indonesia that negatively responding this policy. While in Tempo.co, it is revealed that this news article departs from KPK’s perspective since it tells the readers about the reaction of KPK who becomes the aggrieved party in this case.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis interaksi antara realitas dan relasi pada tiga berita artikel yang membahas tentang revisi undang-undang KPK. Realitas direalisasikan dalam fungsi eksperensial yang terdiri dari sistem transitifitas. Sementara itu, relasi diwujudkan dengan fungsi logis yang terdiri dari status dan relasi logika-semantik. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah tiga artikel berita online; Antara News, The Jakarta Post, dan Tempo.co dan yang menjadi data adalah klausa yang terdapat di dalam masing-masing isi berita. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan menerapkan teknik dokumentasi dan dianalisis melalui metode interaktif. Setelah data dianalisis, ditemukan bahwa jenis realitas dan relasi pada masing-masing artikel berita berbeda. Pada Antara News, realitas proses behavioral tidak ditemukan dan dominasi direalisasikan pada proses verbal. Pada The Jakarta Post, proses verbal tidak ditemukan sementara dominasi terealisasi dalam proses material, dan pada Tempo.co, tidak ditemukan adanya proses eksistensial dimana dominasi ditemukan pada proses mental. Berkaitan dengan fungsi logis, baik parataksis maupun hipotaksis direalisasikan pada ketiga artikel berita, tetapi konfigurasinya menunjukkan hasil yang berbeda. Dari sepuluh konfigurasi fungsi logis, Antara News hanya menyajikan delapan konfigurasi. Sementara itu, untuk The Jakarta Post dan Tempo.co sama-sama menyajikan enam dari sepuluh konfigurasi yang ada. Realisasi interaksi antara realitas dan relasi pada Antara menunjukkan dominasi proses material melalui klausa extension, The Jakarta Post lebih mengedepankan proses material dalam klausa enhancementnya, sementara Tempo.co didominasi oleh dua realisasi, yaitu proses material pada klausa enhancement dan proses verbal pada klausa locution. Hasil temuan secara keseluruhan merujuk pada satu kesimpulan bahwa masing-masing artikel berita menyajikan berita yang sama dengan cara yang berbeda disebabkan karena memiliki tujuan yang berbeda. Antara News, sebagai artikel berita yang dibiayai oleh pemerintah Indonesia sepenuhnya mendukung kebijakan pemerintah. The Jakarta Post terlihat sebagai artikel berita yang memposisikan dirinya sebagai masyarakat Indonesia yang menanggapi kebijakan ini secara negatif. Sementara pada Tempo.co, terungkap bahwa artikel berita ini berangkat dari perspektif KPK dikarenakan isi berita lebih membahas tentang reaksi KPK yang menjadi pihak yang dirugikan pada kasus ini.
