Komposisi Vegetasi dan Potensi Karbon Tersimpan di Stasiun Riset Hutan Batang Toru Blok Barat, Kabupaten Tapanuli Utara, Provinsi Sumatera Utara

Abstract

Batang Toru Forest Research Station West Block, North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province is a forest that has various types of tree stands and is estimated to be able to store quite high carbon. The purpose of this study was to determine the composition of vegetation and the potential for carbon stored in the West Block Batang Toru Forest Research Station. This research was conducted from September 2021 to March 2022 using purposive sampling method. Vegetation data were analyzed using the Important Value Index (INP), Diversity Index (H'), Uniformity Index (E) using the Shannon-Wiener equation. The stored carbon potential was calculated using the Ketterings allometric equation. The results found 64 families, 298 species with a total of 2399 individuals. The percentage of vegetation composition of all growth rates ranged from 31%-59%. The significance index of all growth rates ranged from 14,3% to 71,7%. The highest diversity index and evenness index at the tree level were 4,71 and 0,85. The potential of stored carbon is 373.227 tons C/Ha.

Stasiun Riset Hutan Batang Toru Blok Barat, Kabupaten Tapanuli Utara, Provinsi Sumatera Utara merupakan hutan yang memiliki jenis tegakan pohon yang bervariasi dan diperkirakan dapat menyimpan karbon cukup tinggi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui komposisi vegetasi dan potensi karbon tersimpan di Stasiun Riset Hutan Batang Toru Blok Barat. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan September 2021 sampai Maret 2022 dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Data vegetasi dianalisis menggunakan Indeks Nilai Penting (INP), Indeks Keanekaragaman (H’), Indeks Keseragaman (E) menggunakan persamaan Shannon- Wiener. Potensi karbon tersimpan dihitung dengan menggunakan persamaan allometrik Ketterings. Hasil penelitian ditemukan 64 suku, 298 jenis dengan total individu 2399. Persentase komposisi vegetasi dari seluruh tingkat pertumbuhan berkisar antara 31% sampai 59%. Indeks nilai penting dari seluruh tingkat pertumbuhan berkisar 14,3% sampai 71,7%. Indeks keanekaragaman dan indeks kemerataan yang tertinggi pada tingkat pohon yaitu 4,71 dan 0,85. Potensi karbon tersimpan 373.227 ton C/Ha.
