    Abstract
The use of pesticides in the cultivation of agricultural commodities allows the presence of pesticide residues that are at risk of poisoning consumers and the environment. This study aims to determine the levels of pesticide residues of dimethoate and chlorpyrifos in rice plants originating from Deli Serdang district by using gas chromatography with a flame photometric detector. The results of the analysis can be concluded that in the rice plant originating from Penara village, Tanjung Morawa sub-district, dimethoate and chlorpyrifos were not detected, while in the rice plant originating from Durian village, Pantai Labu sub-district, there were 0.736 mg/kg dimethoate and chlorpyrifos were not detected but in Beringin village, Beringin sub-district. there was 0.232 mg/kg chlorpyrifos and dimethoate was not detected, in Aras Kabu village Deli Serdang district there was 0.292 mg/kg chlorpyrifos and dimethoate was not detected. The level of pesticide residue is still below the Maximum Residue Limit (BMR) in rice so it is still safe for consumption
