Hubungan Alergi dengan Kejadian Polip Nasi Di RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan

Abstract

Background: Nasal polyposis is a common ENT disease with high recurrence rate reflecting unknown etiopathogenesis. The role of allergy in etiopathogenesis of nasal polyposis is a controversial issue. Several studies found that allergy more common in nasal polyps patients but in contrast, another studies found that nasal polyps is higher in non allergic patients Purpose: The aim of the study is to investigate the dissimilarity of the skin prick test of nasal polyps patient and control and the relationship between allergy and nasal polyps Methodology: a case control study which analized the skin pick test of 21 nasal polyp patients and 21 controls Result: Skin pick test were positif in 19% nasal polyps patients and in 14,5% controls. The result showed no difference of skin pick test between both groups (P=1.000, OR 1,1 with 95% Cl 0.51- 2.85). A/so no difference of skin pick test between each stage of nasal polyps (P=0.344) Conclusion: The skin prick test of nasal polyps patient and control are not statistically different, the skin prick test between each stage of nasal polyps also are not statistically different. This study shows no significant correlation between allergy and nasal polyps also between allergy and stage of nasal polyps
