dc.description.abstractFeminism has been defined diffirently in diferent parts of the world, it is based on the cultural realities and the concrete historical reality, and the level of consciousness, perception, action, and diferent education of nations. Feminism which has been around is not the same as feminism in another countries. This thesis discusses about feminism i.e the image and status of the women in the novel entitled Out by Kirino Natsuo. The theory used in this research is feminism literary criticism and theory of critical discourse analysis. The research method used is a qualitative method. From the analyze, it is found out that the image and the position of Japanese women in the novel entitled Out by Kirino Natsuo, has changed a lot since the Western feminism influenced Japanese. The image of women was based on the physical aspects, psychological aspects, family aspects and society aspects. The image of Japanese wornan changed from traditional behavior to modern behavior, and position of Japanese women that most changed is the position of women in the household and in the workfield.en_US
