Cellulose is a natural polymer consisting of glucose monomers. Cellulose is found in plant cell walls, based on its solubility in alkali, plant cellulose can be divided into three types: alpha cellulose, beta cellulose, and gamma cellulose. Alpha cellulose is the form used to define the true cellulose content of plant materials in terms of solubility in alkali. Alpha cellulose is not a type of chemical structure but rather the portion of plant cellulose that is insoluble in 18% NaOH and 10% NaOH at 25 oC. as Crude values, in the case of chemically processed wood pulp, alpha cellulose indicates the amount of normal cellulose, beta cellulose indicates the size of degraded alpha cellulose, and gamma cellulose indicates natural hemicellulose values. the alpha cellulose value that meets the standard is at least 94% and the alpha cellulose value contained in the pulp sheet produced by PT Toba Pulp Lestari is in the range of 95% - 96%.
