An analysis that aims to determine organochlorine pesticide residues (endosulfan) in cocoa beans has been carried out using Gas Chromatography at the Integrated Laboratory/Chemical Laboratory of the Center for Plant Seeds and Plant Protection (BBPPTP) Medan. Endosulfan is an organochlorine compound commonly used as an agricultural insecticide. Determination of residual levels in cocoa with the active ingredient endosulfan has been carried out using a gas chromatograph and the QuEChERS (Quick, Cheap, Effective, Rugged and Safe) method. From the results of the analysis, the pesticide residue levels in cocoa from South Tapanuli were detected at 0.016 mg/kg, from North Tapanuli were detected 0.045 mg/kg. This indicates that the pesticide residue level in cocoa does not exceed the maximum pesticide residue limit (BMR) that has been set by the National Standardization Agency for SNI 7313: 2008 regarding the maximum pesticide residue limit on cocoa agricultural products, which is 0.1 mg/kg so it is still acceptable.
