    Abstract
An analysis of the residue content of the red chili profenofos pesticide has been carried out using a gas chromatography method equipped with an electron capture detector and an Rtx-1 MS column, where the red chilies are first cut into small pieces and then the red chilies are weighed using an analytical balance as much as ±15 grams and then added 30 mL of solvent. acetone, 30 mL dichloromethane, 30 mL petroleum ether 40°C-60°C after the red chilies have been mixed, then the red chilies are crushed using an ultra-turrax tool, after the red chilies are crushed and then decanted, 25 mL of the results of the decantation are then pipetted and then put into a round flask which then concentrated using a rotaevaporator until almost dry, the results obtained were then added 5 mL of isooctane toluene solvent (90:10) into a round flask, then pipetted as much as 5 ml then put into a test tube and then injected the sample into gas chromatography at UPT. Protection of Food Crops and Horticulture of North Sumatra Province. The level of pesticide residue obtained from the active ingredient profenofos with different treatments, namely red chili without washing was 0.790 mg/kg, red chili washed with running water and soap was 0.406 mg/kg and red chili washed with running water was 0.478 mg/kg. The results of the experiments carried out showed the use of pesticides that did not exceed the Maximum Residue Limit (BMR) of Pesticides that had been set by the Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture No.88/Permentan PP 340/12/2011, namely 5 mg kg.
