lntroduction : Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC) is a malignant tumor
that arise from the nasopharynx. Globally, according to WHO, patient with
NPC were found 65.000 new cases and 38.000 deaths each year in 2000.
ln lndonesia we found 10.000 new cases each year. Since Nuclear Factor
Kappa B (NFkB) was found in 1986, many research show this transcription
factor plays a role in NPC development, which are the tumor growth,
metastasis and also the turnor stage by various pathway, and one of those
signaling pathway is angiogenesis
Purpose: To determine the correlation between Nucleus Factor Kappa B
(NFkB)expression and Microvessel Density (MVD) ln patients with
nasopharyngeal carcinoma in H. Adam Malik General Hospital
Method: This research was a cross sectional study. lt was conducted in H.
Adam Malik General Hospital and Pathological Anatomy division of
Medical Faculty of University of Sumatera Utara on October 2014 to March
2015 by using 30 NFC samples.
Result: There are a strong positive correlation between the expression of
NFkEi and MVD against Tumor size, lymph nodes metastases, and tumor
stage in NPC patients.
