This research investigates the semiotic meaning of children's names of the Javanese community in Bandar Khalifah Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai District. The research used descriptive qualitative method Primary data were gathered by conducting interviews with informants and secondary data were the names in the Javanese community. The data are processed by recording, analyzing, and concluding and analyzed by using interactive analysis of Miles and Huberman. The result of the research showed that the semiotic meaning of children's names in the Javanese community in Bandar Khalifah Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai District bear their parents' hope. Ideology of giving names by the Javanese community in Bandar Khalifah Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai District were based on the consideration of date of birth, month of birth, number of order of children in the family, parents' hopes and ambition, important events, pewayangan, religion, and natural components. The functions of semiotic meaning of the Javanese children's names were as signs of the markers of identity and order shown by the attachment of marker of order of naming components, the marker of history shown by referring to the events or situation of the children's birth, the marker of sex shown by the attachment of names or components associated with sex, religion and ideology. Theories of Ferdinand de Saussure and Charles Sanders Peirce were used in this research because their theories about semiotics were able to reveal clearly the semiotic meanings of names of the Javanese community in Bandar Khalifah Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai District. It is recommended researchers investigate the meaning of names further of the Javanese community with broader scopes of regions and based on other different theories of linguistics in the fast development of globalization era right now.
