    Abstract
Phytoplankton primary productivity is a parameter that shows the rate of production of organic matter through the photosynthetic reactions of phytoplankton. The level of waters primary productivity can provide an illustration that a waters is productive in producing organic matter and oxygen supplies produced by the process of photosynthesis which can support an aquatic ecosystem progress. The aim of this research is to known the level of the primary productivity of phytoplankton produced by the Sialang Buah Coastal Waters and to analyze the correlation between the phytoplankton primary productivity against physico-chemical conditions of the waters. This research was conducted in Sialang Buah Coastal Waters, Serdang Bedagai Regency from January to February 2022. Measurement of the primary productivity of phytoplankton was carried out by the light bottle and dark bottle oxygen method, while the analysis of correlations between primary productivity and environmental parameters was carried out by Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The Results showed that the grade of phytoplankton primary productivity ranged from 543.313 mgC/m3/day which was classified as mesotrophic waters, name of waters with medium nutrient element level up to 774,375 mgC/m3/day which were classified as eutrophic waters, name of waters with high nutrient element levels, with Phytoplankton abundance values ranged from 76.730-82.201 individuals/liter with moderate abundance category. The results of PCA analysis showed that primary productivity was positively correlated and has a very strong relationship with the abundance of phytoplankton, positively correlated and has a strong relationship with dissolved oxygen, nitrate and phosphate, positively correlated and has a very weak relationship with temperature. Primary productivity is also negatively correlated and has a very strong relationship to the acidity (pH) and negatively correlated and has a strong relationship to brightness and salinity.
