dc.description.abstractTher Research of the effect of poguntano leaf extract (Picria fel-terrae (Lour.) Merr) on spermatozoa and histomorphometry of obesist model rat testes (Rattus norvegicus) suffered with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia was carried out from July to September 2021 at the Laboratory of Experimental Animal House and Animal Physiology of USU FMIPA, Phytochemical Laboratory Faculty of Pharmacy, University of North Sumatra and Laboratory of Anatomical Pathology RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of poguntano leaf extract (Picria fel-terrae (Lour.) Merr) on the quality and quantity of spermatozoa also histomorphometry of the obesity rat testes (Rattus norvegicus with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments in this study consisted of negative controls which were not given any treatment, positive controls, obesity with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, P1. The others were, obese rats with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia given by the standard drug finasteride (1 mg/KgBW), P2: obese rats with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia given by ethanol extract of puguntano leaves (100 mg/KgBW), P3: obese rats with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia were given by ethanolic extract of puguntano leaves (200 mg/KgBW). After being treated for 10 consecutive days, the rats were dissected and the quality and quantity of spermatozoa were observed in the rats. The testes were prepared using the paraffin method and the Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE) method. The treatments of giving poguntano leaf extract (Picria fel-terrae (Lour.) Merr) to spermatozoa and histomorphometry of rat testes (Rattus norvegicus) obesity model with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia improved the quality and quantity of spermatozoa. Of all treatments, the best average was the giving of poguntano leaf extract (Picria fel-terrae (Lour.) Merr) at a dose of 200 mg/kgBW which showed spermatozoa motility, spermatozoa viability, spermatozoa morphology on average 82.60%, 84.80%, 84.60%,respectively. The number of spermatozoa was cells, and it has a significant effect on increasing the number and the repair of the diameter of the seminiferous tubulesen_US
