There was evidence to suggest that patients with cancers or malignancies may have higher tendency of hypercoagulability and thrombosis. Despite this fact, information about this tendency in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is still scarce. The Aim of the study: Therefore, this study is aimed to investigate the hemoragic screening tests in view of finding possible evidence of hypercoagulability and hyperaggregation in NPC cases and whether they are affected by radio-chemotherapy treatment. Materials and methods: 12 NPC patients were allocated in this study and blood samples were taken for the investigations of P.T, A.P.T.T and T.T, D-DIMER, PLATELET AGGREGATION TEST; at the time before the treatments were started, immediately after the 1, 2 and 3 cycles of chemotherapy and after 1 radiotherapy. Hypercoagulability is defined as two or more evidence of PT (INR) ratios of A.P.T.T, and T.T of< 1.0. The treatment consists of radiotherapy which was performed in the cycle period with the radiation dose 5000-7000 CGy to the tumor mx, whilst the dose of chemotherapy was Cisplatin 100mg/m², S FU (Fluorouracil) 1000 mg/m² Blood sample was obtain from the median vein, in which 15 ml of blood was added with sodium citrate 3,2% for the tests of P.T, A.P.T.T, T.T, D-DIMER and PLATELET AGGREGATION TEST. Statistical analysis for the TREND used the ANNOVA. Results: I P.T. A.P.TT, and T.T were relatively unchanged during the course of the treatment, however the PT, A.P.TT and T.T showed evidence of hypercoagulability starting before therapy D-DIMER is increased, might explain the thrombus formation is destroyed. Hyperaggregation in platelet aggregation test all the way during radiochemotherapy treatment Conclusion: In NPC there is evidence of hypercoagulability and this phenomenons is not affected by the course of radio-chemotherapy. D-Dimer is increased and might explain the thrombus formation is destroyed. This finding might explain the scarcity of report of thrombotic evidence in NPCen_US
D DIMER mengalami peningkatan, kemrmgkinan adanya penghancuran trombus.
