| dc.description.abstract | Adaptation is a process that places the human being who seeks to achieve
goals or needs to face the changing environment and social conditions in order to
survive.This is also the case for the Javanese tribe in Berastagi City to adapt to the
new environment and new culture.The purpose of this study is to find out how the
Javanese adapted to the Karo Tribe in Berastagi and to trace why the Javanese
adapted to the Karo Tribe in Berastagi.The javanese adaptation research in the city of
Berastagi uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, where data collection
is carried out by interview, observation and documentation methods.The number of
samples in this study was 12 people. The results showed that the Javanese tribe in
Berastagi City adapted through interaction with the Karo tribe.This interaction is
carried out with the dynamics of daily life, starting from the dynamics of economy
life to the dynamics of social and political life.So the Javanese tribe has adapted to go
through a process of conformity both individually and in groups to the customs that
developed in the middle of the Karo community.Furthermore, from the research, it
was revealed that the Javanese adapted to the Karo tribe, making up the majority of
the population in Berastagi City.Research shows that the Javanese in the city of
Berastagi have been able to adapt well where the Javanese tribes in Berastagi City
have been able to follow the existing culture by knowing the regional language and
karo culture and there are already many Javanese tribes who have patched the karo
