dc.description.abstractDependency of AOL is one of the problems which is caused by motoric dysfunction in stroke patients which will eventually cause limitation and psychological impact on their anxiety, self-esteem, and depression. The objective of the research was to find out the correlation between dependency of AOL and anxiety, self esteem and depression in stroke patients. This research is a descriptive correlational research with cross sectional design. The study population was patients with stroke who visited the Neurology Clinic and admitted to the inpatient neurology room at, Hospital Dr. Pimgadi Medan with a total sample of 52 people. The result showed that the majority of respondents experienced a heavy dependence (69,20%), severe anxiety (63,50%), low self-esteem (50%) and depression (75%). Spearman Rank correlation test results obtained there was the correlation between dependency AOL and anxiety (r = -0,670), there was the correlation between dependency of ADL and self esteem (r = 0, 785) and there was the correlaWon between dependency ADL and depression in stroke patients (r = -0,748). It is recommended that nurses are advised to recognize psychological problems in patients with stroke like symptoms of anxiety, self-esteem and depression in stroke patients and improve exercise rehabilitation of stroke patients, especially teaching stroke patients in doing ADL, the family is expected to provide support or motivation to stroke patients within rehabilitation and anticipate problems arising from reliance activity daily living.en_US
