dc.description.abstractMangrove forest in Percut, Percut Sei Tuan sub district, Deli Serdang regency begins to be degraded and damaged due to human activities and nature process. This study focuses on identifying society participation level toward the existence of mangrove forest in the Percut, which aims to determine the existence of relationship between individual characteristics and society participation and the constraints that affect society participation. This study was conducted on April to May 2016. The sampling technique was purposive sampling method which was done by conducting interviews and distributing questionnaires to society in mangrove areas, in Percut. The result of this study shows that society participation toward the existence of mangrove forest is in average level with the 58.65% index. It means that there is no significant relationship between individual characteristics (age, number of family members, long living, and education) and society participation. Yet individual characteristics such as income and job show that they have significant relationship with society participation toward the existence of the mangrove forest.en_US
