The Description of Marhata Sinamot in Batak Toba Tradition

Abstract

The title of this paper is "Description of Marhata sinamot in the Batak Toba tradition". The problem and purpose of this research is to find out the steps and functions of Marhata sinamot. The method used by the author in this study is qualitative description to obtain certain data by searching and collecting several books related to the description of Marhata sinamot. Then, the author conducted interviews with several people who understand the tradition of Marhata sinamot, and then describe it. In the steps of Marhata sinamot consists of three main parts, namely: the initial step, the step of determining the number of sinamot, and the final step. There are three functions of Marhata sinamot in this paper, namely: 1. To build family by giving dowry; 2. Discuss the marriage schedule; 3. Unite the paranak or wife receiver and parboru or wife giver (Dalihan Na Tolu)
