The Description of Moral Values in Aliaune Damala Akon Thiam's Selected Song Lyrics

Abstract

The purpose in this paper is to describes the moral values in life that are described in the lyrics of the song Akon, and find the most dominant type of moral values. The method used in this paper is Qualitative Method. The data source of this research is a few of Akon selected songs. The technique used to describe the data by performing a few steps,among others , (1) listening and reading 6 lyrics of several selected Akon songs, (2) understanding the contents of Akon's song lyrics, and (3) writing lyrics related to moral values. After describing the moral values contained in the songs, the researcher found several good moral values, namely: bravery: 3,8 %, honesty: 26,9 %, steadfastness: 11,5 %, love and affection: 7,7 %, sympathy to others: 11,5 %, cooperativeness: 11,5 %, thankfulness: 7,7 %, and sincerity: 19,2 %, and the most dominant moral values is honesty and bad moral values namely: selfish: 100% and the most dominant moral value is selfish.
