| dc.description.abstract | Moral values can be seen from two sides, namely good and bad behavior. This
paper aimed to describe the types of moral values and the dominant types of moral
values in the novel The Alchemist. In writing this paper, the methods used in this
paper is qualitative research methods. The data source of this paper is the novel
The Alchemist and the data are quotes in the form of words, sentences, or
paragraphs in the novel. The steps in researching data sources are reading novels
to understand the content of the story, then analyzing the data by marking the data
in the form of quotations, be it words, sentences, or paragraphs. After analyzing
the data, it can be concluded that the types of moral values in The Alchemist novel
consist of good values and bad values. There are 6 good values found in the novel,
namely Honesty 15%, Responsibility 15%, Independence 4%, Moral Courage 8%,
Humility 23%, and Critical 15%. And the bad value is Irresponsible 4%, Moral
Discourage 4%, Arrogant 8%, Careless 4%. The dominant type of moral value
from good values is Humility, and the dominant moral value from bad values is
