The Description Of Figure Of Speech in Tangled Original Soundtrack Selected Songs

Abstract

Figure of speech in a song uses poetic devices as an important instrument in the lyrics in order that more interesting, imaginative, and essential so that listeners can feel the emotions contained in a song. This paper aimed to identify the types of figure of speech in Tangled Original Soundtrack Selected Songs and to find out the dominant of each types of figure of speech in Tangled Original Soundtracks selected songs. This paper uses a descriptive qualitative method. The results of this paper include Methapor, Paradox, Simile, Irony, Hyperbole, and Personification. The dominant of each types of figure of speech represented in Tangled Original Soundtracks selected songs were metaphor (28.6%) and paradox (28.6%), simile (14.3%), irony (10.7%) and hyperbole (10.7%), and lastly personification (7.1%). Regarding other types of figure of speech that are not described, namely because they are not found in Tangled Original Soundtrack Selected Songs.
