dc.description.abstractBelimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) contains an important compounds that are beneficial for health. Vitamin C is a type of vitamin that serves in maintaining the immune system and restore the body's condition. Belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) is primarily used as a traditional medicine in the treatment of cholesterol, gout, diabetes mellitus, acne, and sprue. It is critical to test the levels of vitamin C in fruits to ensure that the daily requirement for vitamin C does not exceed the predetermined maximum of 1000 mg. Objective: This experiment aims to determine the level of vitamin C in belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) utilizing the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. Method: Sample was obtained from one of the traditional markets specifically Pringgan Market located in Medan Baru District, Medan City, North Sumatra. The experiment begins with preparation of the sample, followed by a qualitative test with FeCl3, and determination of vitamin C levels by UV-Vis spectrophotometry using a coloring reagent, namely 2,6-dichlorophenol indophenol and it’s absorption is measured at a maximum wavelength of 513 nm. Results: The test results determined that the level of vitamin C obtained in belimbing wuluh using the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method was 48.666 mg/100 g which is the average level after performing three measurements assessment test. Conclusion: Based on the results of tests that have been carried out, it shows that belimbing wuluh has a vitamin C content of 48.666 mg/100 g.en_US
