The research titled Column Culture in Kompas and Cultural Knowledge Nation
Indonesia(Correlational Study Effect of Column Culture in Kompas Against
Indonesian Nation Cultural Sciences at Student Communication Studies Usu)”.
The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of the culture column in
Kompas on knowledge Culture Indonesian people in communication science
students. This study uses correlational find a relationship between variables X
(Column custom in Kompas) with a variable Y (Knowledge Nation Cultural
Indonesia). This research was conducted on the campus of North Sumatra
University Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. Data analysis technique used
single-table analysis, cross table analysis and hypothesis testing using univariate
test test and converted by the table F as a measure of the significance of a
relationship. Collecting data using questionnaires and research library (Library
Research). The population in this research were 257 students using the formula
Arikunto by taking a sample of 12% of the total population, so the samples
obtained as many as 31 people. The sampling technique stratified sampling,
purposive sampling and simple random sampling. The theory used in this
research is the theory of communication, theories, Mass Communication,
Newspaper / Newspapers, theory of Culture, the Nation, and the theory of
knowledge. Hypothesis test used to test univariansi by SPSS 22 obtained results
calculated F value is greater than F table which means there is a significant
relationship between culture column in Kompas with knowledge of the culture of
Indonesia. Column culture in Kompas increase knowledge of students about the
culture of Indonesia.
