Peran Ibu Sebagai Orang Tua Tunggal dalam Memenuhi Kebutuhan Sosial Ekonomi Keluarga (Studi Kasus : Daerah Pinggir Rel Gaperta Kelurahan Helvetia Kecamatan Medan Helvetia Kota Medan
Abstract
Fathers and mothers have their respective roles in the family, but in contrast
to families headed by a single parent. The phenomenon of single parents continue to
rise and more and more current, single parents too are dominated by the mother or
female. in Indonesia, in 2010 Stasistik Central Agency (BPS) estimates that there are
approximately 9 million families are headed by women who become single parents.
Mothers who become single parents would have more weight, he had to undergo a
double role due to her figure no husband. it is certainly going to bring a lot of
problems are also barriers in the run. Especially in fulfilling the social needs of the
economy. Issues addressed in this study is how the mother became a single parent to
run its dual role as a father and a mother in the socio-economic needs of the family.
This type of research is classified as descriptive qualitative approach which
aims to describe the role of the mother as a single parent in meeting the needs of
family socioeconomic Regional rail edge Gaperta administrative districts helvetia
Medan Helvetia Medan city. Who became informants in this study were six women
who become single parents after the absence of the husband either because of
divorce or death. Data collection method is a literature study, in-depth interviews and
direct observation in the field.
The results showed that the level of socioeconomic family mother became a
single parent is still quite good because their basic needs such as food, clothing,
shelter, health is also recreation still fulfilled even though they can be said to be very
minimal, their needs are also helped by the programs of the government. social
relationships mothers and children of single parent families is also good with the
public and also among their families. She also instill religious values also manners so
that their children can perform its social function properly. However, children of
mothers who become single parents are particularly vulnerable to dropping out of
school, therefore suggested that the mother became a single parent should also be
more active and more creative so that their children do not drop out of school and
also need support from the government.
