Respon Penerima Bantuan Program Pelayanan Kesejahteraan Sosial Anak (PKSA) oleh Lembaga Kesejahteraan Masyarakat (YAKMI) di Daerah Pinggiran Rel Gaperta Kecamatan Medan Helvetia Kota Medan

Abstract

Nowadays, the phenomenom that needs attention is the rise of abandoned children. In general, the abandoned children were having problems such as economic difficulties, suffer from malnutrition, lack of attention and affection from parents, can’t receive the maximum of educational services, and so on. Children Social Welfare Program (PKSA) was developed with a long-term perspective as well as to affirm the Ministry of Social’s commitment to respond the challenge and the efforts to create a rights-based children social welfare. One of the institutions that deal with children’s issues for Medan city is Indonesian Society Welfare Institution (YAKMI). This institution has fulfilled the requirements of Indonesian Ministry of Social to organize PKSA. The suburb rail of Gaperta is one of the territory which become the target of PKSA, where the area is a slum dwellings, and the average live with a low income. This research is conducted in regional suburb rail of Gaperta Uptown Village District of Medan Helvetia Medan City. The type of this research is descriptive type with 30 childrens as the sample of this research. The data collection techniques with literature studies and field studies such as: observation, questionnaire, documentation. Then analyzed with the likert scale so it can be positive or negative response result. At the time of the research, the researcher can conclude that PKSA program by YAKMI which are given to the street children in suburb rail of Gaperta aims to increase children welfare particularly in terms of child nutrition. This has been well achieved, seen from the positive response of the society whose join the implementation of the program conducted by YAKMI.
