dc.description.abstract | Growing media is one of the things which must be considered in cultivating
plants using a s hydroponic system. The study aimed to find out the effect of
variations of adding cocopeat on the growth of red spinach in hydroponic growing
media with wick system. The experimental design used was a Factorial Completely
randomize design (CRD) consisting of four treatments, namely P0 hush charcoal
(control), P1 hush charcoal and cocopeat (2:1), P3 hush charcoal and cocopeat
(1:2), and P3 hush charcoal and cocopeat (1:1) which was repeated 5 times. The
result indicated that the addition of cocopeat owned no significant effect on the leaf
number, leaf width, and leaf length. However, it significally affected the wet weight,
dry weight, and root length. Growing media in P2 treatment using a ratio of hush
charcoal and cocopeat (1:2) gave the best growth result on parameter of the
number of leaves 8.13 strands, leaf length 10.62 cm, plant fresh weight 39.15 gram,
ii
and plant dry weight 5.22 gram. Meanwhile, P3 treatment using hush charcoal and
cocopeat (1:1) gave the best growth result at 6.92 cm leaf width parameter and 26.2
cm root length of red spinach in wick hydroponic system | |
