Research on the extraction and immobilization of antibacterial active compounds in methanol extract of pirdot leaves in semi IPN hydrogel has been carried out. This study aimed to analyze the antibacterial active compounds from pirdot leaf extract, evaluate the antibacterial active compounds from the pirdot leaf extract (Saurauia vulcani, Korth) against the semi IPN hydrogel, as well as analyze the percentage of crosslinking, water absorption, and antibacterial test of the semi IPN hydrogel. optimum with the addition of pirdot leaf extract. This research used extraction method for pirdot leaf extract (Saurauia vulcani, Korth) and crosslinking method to produce semi IPN hydrogel based on PVA/AA/MBA. Characterization for pridot leaf extract and IPN hydrogel was carried out using FTIR, GCMS, SEM and antibacterial tests. The results showed that the methanol extract of pirdot leaves contained secondary metabolites, namely phenolics, terpenoids, saponins, tannins and steroids (FTIR and GCMS analysis). The semi IPN hydrogel with the addition of 0.04 g of pirdot leaf extract had the most optimum swelling percentage and degree of cross-linking, which were 516.28% and 95.12%, respectively. The antibacterial activity test of the semi IPN hydrogel with the addition of 0.08 g pirdot leaf extract showed the largest inhibition zone value for Staphylococcus aureus bacteria (19.9 mm ) and the smallest on the semi IPN hydrogel with the addition of 0.02 g pirdot leaf extract for Escherichia coli bacteria (0 mm ). The results of these studies indicate that the methanol extract of pirdot leaves and the semi IPN hydrogel based on PVA/AA/MBA immobilized by the methanol extract of pirdot leaves have antibacterial activity so that they have the potential to be used as wound and irritation medicine.en_US
