    Abstract
Objective: To determine correlation between symptomps duration and type of tympanic membrane perforation with hearing loss in chronic suppurative otitis media. CSOM is a chronic inflammation of middle ear with perforated tympanic membrane combined with ear discharge history. CSOM is a cause for hearing loss that generally found in developing country. A swift diagnosis and treatment may help patient quality of life. Method: The study was a cross sectional design with data consisted of all CSOM patient that attended treatement in H. Adam Malik General Hospital starting Januari 2016 until December 2018. Data was collected from medical record. Charactheristics of patient were presented and correlation test was done by Kruskal Walis test. Result: The study consisted of 188 CSOM patient. The most gender is male (66,5%), the mean age of patient was 22,3 years with main complaint of ear discharge around 114 people (60,6%). Most CSOM patient had symptom duration for 5-10 years 85 patient (45,2%) comes with central perforation 109 ear (46,8%), complicated with conductive hearing loss 113 ear (48,5%), mild degree 118 ear (50,6%). We found no correlation between symptoms duration with hearing loss type (p = 0,060) and degree (p = 0,285) yet significant correlation between perforation type and hearing loss type and degree (p < 0,001) Conclusion: The study show no correlation between symptoms duration with hearing loss type (p = 0,060) and degree (p = 0,285) yet significant correlation between perforation type and hearing loss type and degree (p < 0,001)
