    Abstract
Pekik Lara Pincala is a reinterpretation of the previous work of the author, Piso Surit Dalam Distorsi, which is also a reinterpretation of the traditional Karo song by Djaga Depari entitled Piso Surit. Piso Surit is not the name of a type of knife typical of the Karo tribe, but is a term for a type of bird in the Karo Land of North Sumatra, a bird that sings like it is calling and looks very sad. The sound is loud and repeated as if to say the word "piso serit". This type of bird in Indonesian is called Kacer, while in the language of the Karo tribe this bird is called Pincala. The song Piso surit illustrates the sadness of a girl who is shackled with longing and sadness that is very powerful in waiting. Waiting for her lover who went to fight for the battlefield and had not returned for a long time, in fighting for the independence of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia during the Belanda Colonialism. The reinterpretation of the song Piso Surit that the Creator worked on became a work of art entitled Piso Surit Dalam Distorsi, then reinterpreted by the Creator into a new form of art in the form of theatricalization or musical drama. By implementing several theoretical approaches, namely; Sunnatullah, Reinterpretation, Reconstruction, Semiology, Music Composition, Dance Choreography, Theater and Musical Drama, the Creator gave birth to new works of art. Where the Creator explores five songs by Djaga Depari entitled, Erkata Bedil, Erkata Pet-pet, Sora Mido, Padang Sambo and Piso Surit, as well as a song by Sergeant Major Hasyim Ngalimun entitled Oh Turang, which is then constructed and reflected into a story Musical Drama or Theatricalization, and gave it the title Pekik Lara Pincala, which can literally be interpreted as a cry of sadness or the cry of a Pincala bird
