dc.description.abstractResearch, entitled "Socio-Economic Conditions Community Farmers Post- Transition Type Plants From Coffee to Orange", originated from the author's interest to farmers who make the switch plant species that exist in the Village Panji Dabutar, Kab. Dairi. Dairi is one area that has the potential of agriculture were quite spacious and very large result, so the main livelihood is agriculture. The lives of most people in the Dairi Regency is located in the plantation sector and before coffee plants serve as economic support by the majority of society. Dairi is one of the best coffee producer in the province of North Sumatra, special because it grows in the volcanic highlands. Not surprisingly, once the coffee commodity to be excellent farmers in this region. But as the economic development of the coffee plants which have become his trade mark Dairi Sidikalang precisely in the city began to shift its position by coffee plants from Aceh which Gayo coffee. This is because the quality of coffee from Sidikalang compete with the quality of Gayo coffee which currently has a better quality. Causing the farming communities make the transition to the type of plants, especially citrus and coffee prices decreased so that the farming community began to feel concern about their coffee farms. For the farming community make the transition type of plant to plant citrus. The method used in this research is descriptive research with qualitative approach. Document collection techniques is done by observation, interview, and literature study. As for the unit of analysis and informants in this study was a community of farmers in Panji Dabutar plant species that make the switch from coffee to orange. Interpretation of the document is done by using the data obtained from the observation, in-depth interviews, and interpreted based on a literature review support so it can be concluded. The results show that it can be said there is a change in the socio-economic conditions of the farming community especially after doing the transition of plants and in the Village Panji Dabutar an increase in the income of farmers when farmers have decided to switch from coffee plant to plant citrus. Farming community located in the Village Panji Dabutar Dairi of said most of the people who are able to meet their social life and the economics of the said society into the middle and upper. From an economic perspective, the community has also been said to be capable of income since they have already meet the needs of their everyday lives and they are also able to send their children to schools outside the city such as lectures and social aspects can be inferred based on interviews of researchers rising incomes farmers automatically elevate the social class of the community farmers in Panji Dabutar.en_US
