Abstract

Freedom and lifestyle developments in this postmodern era also influence the selection of the individual in a dress / fashion. There are also several models of fashion is considered minimalis / sexy by some people and they thought impolite if applicable. Consequently, many people also believe that people have started to abandon the values of manners in society. The diversity of fashion style of this Christian congregation can also be found in some churches in Medan area where each congregation must have characteristics and a different view of the fashion trends. This phenomenon is giving interest in the study of how the views and attitudes of the church towards diverse fashion trends while worshiping in the church. The purpose of this study was to determine the development of fashion trends and the church members know the attitude of the church towards the phenomenon of the diversity of the fashion trends of the congregation in worship. This type of research is descriptive qualitative case study approach. Research conducted at the GKPI Padang Bulan Pamen Medan. The informants were 11 people consisting of 8 church congregation and 3 of the managers of the Church. Data collected by way of interviews, observation and study of literature. The results showed that each congregation has its own views related fashion. Some congregations closely follow the development of fashion and applied in all activities including when worship. Not all congregations agree on the use of certain fashions, especially when doing worship. Some congregations upholds the values of decency that would value each individual decency could have been different. Some congregations also have that normal or unique reasons related to the selection of clothing that will be worn. A plurality of ideas and attitudes of the congregation will certainly be found, especially in the modern era.
