dc.description.abstract | This study aims to determine the factors that cause the society of Pohan
Tonga village switch profession from wetland farmers to factory labors. These factor
include income, opportunity, motivation, and socialization. The authors also want to
know about the socio-economic conditions of the village community Pohan Tonga.
The research using qualitative method with descriptive-qualitative
approach.The research location in the Pohan Tonga village’s sub-dustric
Siborongborong District Nort Tapanuli. Research subjects are people who switch
profession from wetland farmers to factory labors. The techniques of colleting data
using primary data are interview, observation, and documentation. As well as
secondery data such as books, jurnals, and litetarute studies.Stages of analyzing data
ranging from processing, analyzing, interpreting and conclusion.
The result of this study indicate that working in a factory is more promising
than working as a paddy farmer. Income became the main factor of the community
switched profession. Income from farming is uncertain and minimal compared to
working in factories. Another factor is motivation of people to live more prosperous.
