Analisa terhadap Kesepakatan Konservasi Masyarakat dalam Upaya Mengurangi Deforestasi pada Hutan Lindung Batang Angkola

Abstract

The land cover and biodiversity loss due to deforestation has had a significant impact on the environment and society in Sub Disctrict South Angkola. One of the efforts to reduce deforestation of the BatangAngkola Protected Forest is to collaborate with various relevant stakeholders, especially the people in Binasari sub village who are located in the buffer zone. The high rate of deforestation that occurs in BatangAngkola Protected Forest is closely related to the existence of the surrounding community, as well as the plantation of palm oil and the processing mills which has become alternative income for the community. The objective of this study is to identify the existing biodiversity fauna in protected forest Batang Angkola, to identify the topography and deforestation, as well as to search the impact of the implementation of community conservation agreement. Batang Angkola Proctected Forest is located in the key biodiversity area of Sumatra, which has several types of biodiversity that are included in the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) living in it, these can be updated through the installation of camera traps at several points of location in this Protected Forest by the community together with related stakeholders. This research is also completed by a socio-economic survey using a descriptive method and also the mapping that showing the area of degraded in the protected forest. From the results of the research, it can be seen that the people living in buffer areas such as Binasari village basically have an awareness of the significant of forest functions for their daily lives, but the main obstacle they face is the income for their survival. This program, hopefully can be a solution so that the community could reduce the deforestation by awareness through economic alternatives that have become a part of a joint conversation agreement together with inter related stakeholders to reduce deforestation in the BatangAngkola Protected Forest.
