Perbedaan Kadar Serum Kalsium dan Fosfat pada Bayi Prematur dan Bayi Aterm

Abstract

Background Calcium and phosphate are the main elements required in the process of bone mineraiization in neonates. Bone metaboiisf disorder is commonly undetected in early stage, so it is necessary to determined serum calcium and phosphate levels in neonates. Objective To assess comparison of serum calcium and phosphate levels between preterm and term neonates. Methods A cross sectional study was performed in Neonatology Unit of H.Adam Malik General Hospital in Medan from June to October 2014. Subjects were 73 divided into two groups: one group of preterm neonates and another of term ones. Blood sampling was performed in the 2-5 days of life. Serum calcium and phospate level were measured using Cobas. Data were analized with independent t-test Results Mean level of calcium in the group of preterm neonates was 7,8 g/dl and 8,29 g/dL in tenn neonates (P:0,M5), while the rnean serum phosphate level in preterm neonates was 3,97 g/dL and term neonates 3,94. g/dL(P: 0,906) Conclusion There was significant differences of mean serum calcium level between preterm and aterm neonates, but there was !g diff,erence found regarding serum phospate level.
